1. Introduction

Welcome to islam+. We respect your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the mobile app, why we collect it and how we protect it. We do not show ads and we do not use third-party tracking technology.

2. Information We Collect

The app can be used without creating an account. Most of the following is collected only when you sign in with Apple:

  • Account information: your name and email address when you sign in with Apple
  • Location: if you give permission, for prayer times and the qibla — details in Section 4
  • Your app settings: your profile name, notification preferences, city, madhab preference and the answers you gave during setup (the age range asked in older versions is no longer asked; if you provided it before, it remains until your account is deleted)
  • Your prayer record: the five daily prayers you mark day by day, and the rates and streaks calculated from them
  • Your dhikr and fasting records: your tasbih counter, the dhikr you selected, the rounds you completed, the days you marked on the fasting calendar and your count of missed (qada) obligations
  • Your Quran reading record: your daily verse goal, the number of verses you read each day, and the surah and verse where you last left off
  • Your learning progress (only if you have islam+ Pro and are signed in): the lessons you completed, the steps you marked in the prayer guide and your memorization list (verse ranges and review days) — so that you can continue where you left off on every device. If you are not on Pro or have not signed in, these stay only on your device.
  • Khatm circle (only if you create or join one): the circle’s name, the display name you join with (the name on your Apple account; if empty, “Anonymous participant”) and the juz you take and mark as read. These are visible to the other members of that circle. Leaving a circle deletes your membership; the founder can remove a member. Deleting your account also deletes the circles you created and your memberships.
  • Your bookmarks: the duas and hadiths you saved in the Discover section
  • Subscription status: subscription and transaction information via RevenueCat
  • Usage data: event records, kept on our own server, about which screens and sections are used; these records are accompanied by an anonymous identifier randomly generated on the device (it is not an advertising identifier or a device serial number). In current versions of the app, these records are not linked to your account even if you are signed in. Events carry only permitted fields: the details of your prayer/dhikr records, texts you write, question-and-answer content and location coordinates are not sent. Which sections you used and when is calculated on your device; only the validity period of the “used regularly this week” information is sent to the server. When you delete your account, the anonymous identifier is deleted from the device; old events on the server remain in a state in which they cannot be linked to any account.
  • Your starting preference: the purpose of use you chose on first launch (prayer times, Quran, qibla, dhikr, learning, routine tracking) is kept on your device; if you are signed in, it is also saved to your account together with your settings
  • Diagnostics: error messages when something fails

Data that does not leave your device. The following are stored only on your phone and are not sent to our servers: your preferences in the Quran reader (translation, reciter, mushaf font size), the audio files you download (they are kept in the app’s cache directory and are not included in iCloud backups) and your memorization reminder preferences. These do not come back when you change your phone or delete and reinstall the app.

If you do not sign in. Your personal records are not sent to the server: your prayer, dhikr, fasting and Quran reading records, your qada debt, your bookmarks and your learning progress are kept only on your device and are not associated with any account. The core of the app works without an account.

Apart from what is described about location in Section 4, there are two things that are sent to the server even when you are not signed in, and we state both openly:

  • Usage events (which screen was opened, which onboarding step you are on) are recorded without an account as well; the account field stays empty, and they are accompanied only by the anonymous identifier randomly generated on the device — to count how many people return to the app.
  • Your IP address. In requests to our server, it is kept temporarily in a counter record to block excessive requests (rate limiting). The record is valid for one minute; expired records are deleted. We do not use your IP address for profiling, advertising or tracking.

3. How We Use Information

  • To show prayer times for where you are
  • To schedule prayer time notifications on your device
  • To manage your subscription
  • To improve the app and fix errors

4. Location

islam+ uses your location to calculate prayer times and the qibla direction. Location is not used for advertising and is not associated with an advertising identifier.

While you are in Turkey, your GPS location is reduced on your device to the nearest province, and only the province name is sent to our server; the times are taken from the official Diyanet calendar. If you are outside Turkey — or if our server cannot be reached — your coordinates are sent to the Aladhan (aladhan.com) service so that the times can be calculated for your location. The Qibla screen sends your coordinates to Apple’s geocoding service to show the name of the place where you are.

You can turn off location permission at any time and select your city manually; the times are then calculated for that city.

5. Third-Party Services

  • Sign in with Apple: authentication (optional)
  • RevenueCat: in-app subscription management
  • Aladhan (aladhan.com): prayer time calculation outside Turkey — details in Section 4
  • cdn.islamic.network: recitation recordings; the audio files you listen to or download are requested from here
  • alquran.cloud: Turkish translations. The Diyanet Vakfı translation is built into the app; when the Diyanet İşleri or Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır translation is selected, the text is loaded first from our own server and, if it cannot be reached, directly from alquran.cloud

The following content is built into the app, and no request is sent to any service when it is displayed: the Arabic text of the Holy Quran (Tanzil Quran Text, tanzil.net, CC BY 3.0; compiled via alquran.cloud), the English, Indonesian and Arabic translations (QuranEnc.com: Saheeh International — Noor International, version 1.1.2; Kemenag — Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, version 1.0.1; Tafsir al-Muyassar), the surah names taken from quran.com and the adhan notification sound (Atcovi, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 4.0).

Analytics do not go to a third party; they are kept on our own server.

6. Use of Artificial Intelligence

islam+ does not produce personal advice, interpretation or personalized recommendations; for this reason, the app does not send requests to an artificial intelligence model on your behalf. Features such as guidance, mood tracking, the daily reflection and the personal plan have been removed.

The verse of the day does not come from a model; it comes from a fixed pool with verified sources and is read on your device or on our own server; no data is sent to a third-party artificial intelligence provider.

7. Data Security

We apply appropriate security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Request the correction of inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and your data
  • Request a copy of your data

Deleting your account: you can do this yourself in the app — Settings → Profile → Delete my account. This permanently deletes your account and the data linked to it (profile, worship and Quran reading records, and settings) from our servers. You can also request it by writing to the address in Section 11.

9. Children’s Privacy

The app is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has given us personal information, please contact us.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We publish changes on this page and update the “Last updated” date.
